Uruvangal Maralam is a fantasy-drama film built around divine intervention and human transformation. Legendary actors Sivaji Ganesan, Jai Shankar, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, and Manorama appear in various manifestations of God, making the film a unique ensemble of star cameos.

The film marks the 100th film of Y. G. Mahendran. It also introduced Ravi Raghavendra, Manjari, and Bindu Ghosh in their debut roles.
